Welcome to Student Media!

Our staff are a part Center for Student Engagement at Georgia Tech. Student Engagement empowers and supports registered student organizations to catalyze belonging and create an engaging campus community. The Center has a strong history of developing and working closely with Georgia Tech’s outstanding student leaders.

Student Media strives to provide the Institute and Atlanta communities with news, information and a forum for the exchange of ideas, while providing an educational learning environment for students interested in creative expression and media management.

Get Involved with Student Media

Students can get involved with Georgia Tech Student Media through leadership positions, paid staff roles, and volunteer opportunities.

Leadership Positions

Applications are accepted each year for editor-in-chief positions for select student publications, including Technique, Blueprint, Erato, North Avenue Review, The Tower, and 3484.

These leadership roles require students to apply, interview, and be selected through the Student Media leadership process.

WREK leadership positions, including General Manager, Business Manager, and Chief Engineer, also require an application and selection process.

Paid Staff Positions

Some student media organizations also have paid staff positions. These may include titled roles such as news editor, publicity director, assistant editor, or similar positions.

Paid staff positions are typically selected by the newly appointed editor-in-chief of each publication or by WREK’s General Manager.

Volunteer Opportunities

Students who are not serving in leadership or paid staff roles can still get involved as volunteers.

Volunteers may help with stories, photography, interviews, production, events, and other assignments. Students interested in volunteering should attend the organization’s regular meetings or check the organization’s website and social media channels for meeting information.
